Random Photos from Today

The cottage across the street and down one door.

The gate to a cottage two doors down.

An ancient but still-in-use mailbox buried in a stone wall about 50' from our door. Been there since who knows when?

Jane walking on the sidewalk across from our cottage this morning.

Several photos from the top of the stone wall just ahead of where Jane's walking above. Wild things grow abundantly between every stone.

A gate leading to an ancient walking path about 100' from our cottage.

A converted barn that's now a house. The old stable doors are simply opened up and affixed to the house.

Bluebells growing next to the road.

Horses are a common sight throughout the village... as are dogs. People walking dogs everywhere and all the dogs are welcome in the local pub!!

Sculpted bushes just round the corner from our cottage.

I can't even remember the last time I saw a phone booth in the US, but they're quite common here.

This is a pasture just around the corner from our cottage.

This street is W.I.D.E. by local standards but you see the problem with cars being parked everywhere along narrow roads.

A nearby front doorway.

The Royal Mail busily at work nearby.

A local hotel and pub. Note the espaliered wisteria all along the front.

As I mentioned, cars park on both sides randomly, but again, this road is much, much wider than the narrower country lanes. You can see the car weaving  between the various abandoned vehicles. Oncoming cars just give and take- waiting for one another to serpentine through the maze.

Nearby roofs in the morning sunlight.

The cottage just slightly behind our own.

An ancient front door round the corner from our cottage.

Everything is in bloom right now.
